General information The edge the middle is a 6-song ep that will be available at shows, local shops, and on this site (via paypal). For the time being, you can preview some of the tracks at the e.p. hall myspace. Previews on this site are coming soon. It's a rather homespun production (like the other recordings, some of which are here), but with better materials, more effort, and better distribution than its predecessors...the songs were home recorded with love and care and mastered at Farm Fresh Studios, and the CD itself was professionally pressed, printed and packaged by S&J CD, with beautiful photography by Woodland
The latest news from the front... (8/09/06) The project is officially complete, and CD's are available for purchase in the merch section. This evening is the CD release show at Bear's Place, and it promises to be a wonderful time... (7/14/06) I just approved the final proofs for the album art. Now machines will do the rest of the work. (7/13/06) 'Cherry Soda Weather' posted on the e.p. hall myspace. (7/11/06) Everything is done and sent off! It'll take a couple weeks for the pressing and printing. (7/06/06) 'Fingertips to Claws' posted on the e.p. hall myspace (6/29/06) Two songs posted from 'the edge the middle' on the e.p. hall myspace: 'Bow and Arrow' and 'Flags' (new version). (6/22/06) We now have a finished master. Upon finalization of the cover art we will send it and the proofs to S&J CD...a few weeks later we should get a big box of shiny, beautiful cd's. Very soon I'll put some tracks up here, but for the time being you can visit the e.p. hall myspace, where I'll be posting a new track each week for your listening pleasure. (6/14/06) Lots of progress. Yesterday we listened to a draft-version cd in the car. It was very exciting, and a relief, as recently a number of recent audio trials and tribulations had us pulling out hair and gnashing teeth. In a few days we will be going to Jake at Farm Fresh studios to master the tracks we have so sloppily, but lovingly, home-recorded. Also, we (finally) got the typewriter and the Woodland Creature Productions photos will be taken this weekend. (6/01/06) While falling asleep the other night, e.p.'s head was suddenly filled with various images of strange and creepy installations with an antique typewriter. This evening, the obsession led to an ebay purchase of an Underwood Standard No. 5 from 1915. A whopping $17.50 was the final bid. The ebay photos are here. Plan on seeing it again in the album art. Jerel has been spending very long hours hunched over the computer, mixing and editing and mixing and editing again. We are getting worried about his posture... (5/31/06) Great news. Photography for the album art is going to be generously provided by Woodland Creature Productions, home of the beautiful work of Ontolograph. They are great supporters of independent music and of this project in particular. This made my week. (5/30/06) The recording is very nearly completed, and numerous hours have been spend playing and re-playing every stitch of every song. Everyone is a little tired and a little grumpy, but the end is in sight... A surprising number of folks have already inquired about securing a copy...their enthusiasm and interest means lots and lots to us. (5/26/06) Cut two songs ('the chains of california' and 'said the feather to the urn') from the project. Lots of good reasons for this. The remaining six make a very cohesive set. Most people haven't heard these songs anyway--so, now it's a 6-song ep instead of the 8-song one I promised... (5/18/06) Design stuff is in progress. Recording will begin this weekend. |
